Closing a black triangle without grinding the tooth down

This downtown practice was built on one idea: repair without sacrificing healthy enamel. Dr Taras Konanec works with the Bioclear method — heated composite resin injected into anatomical matrices — to close diastemas and “black triangles”, the dark spaces near the gumline that affect close to a third of adults. On front teeth the procedure is done with no drilling and no preparation, most often in a single session. He is the only dentist in Quebec to have completed all three certification levels of the Bioclear Learning Center, and he teaches the technique to colleagues.

Dr Taras Konanec (McGill, 1997; residency at the Royal Victoria) is an assistant professor and head of the preclinical operative programme at McGill, where he has taught for twenty-five years; the faculty awarded him the Ralph Silverstone distinction. Dr Antony Turcotte (McGill, 2008) supervises graduating students; prosthetics and periodontics. Dr Terence Flanagan (McGill, 1982) also teaches, after forty years of cosmetic and comprehensive practice. Dr Mohamed Youssef (Alexandria, then McGill) — implantology, periodontal surgery and endodontics. Dr Yanick Lee completes the team; on hygiene, Sabrina, Xiaobing, Kathy and Mitra.
